Fishermen in a lonely beach down the coast from the Peniche peninsula
We scored a lovely session that night. But the most memorable thing to me remains the conversation with them fishermen. If there’s an opportunity to get in touch I jump at it. I just love their mentality! Take this: seeing one guy rinsing this big fish in a beach pond, I asked what the fish was called. “This one?” the other guy asked pointing at his friend. “Alfonso!” We’ve all had a good laugh. The fish turned out to be a highly valued Robalo - a sea bass. Sustainably caught with a rod from the beach and to be grilled over charcoal in a restaurant later..
